Bath
There are still manydoubtsregarding this point, bunnies may or may not have a bath?
The answer is simple,Not!
We are like cats,we clean ourselves, we don't need a bath, nor shampoo and besides, we don't smell bad, so there is not a need for bath.
Unfortunately it seems that many humans still insist on this matter without realize that the bath has a very big negative effect on us, as it is not in our nature to bath be placed in the water is so much scare, that will cause us stress or worse like get into shock and do you knows what can happen? Have a cardiac attack! Besides, take a bath increase the possibility of get sick or get an infection, we can easily get into hypothermia and it's not because the water tempetarure, even after bathing, we don't dry the fur like dogs and get wet fur low our body temperature and that can cause hypothermia, have pneumonia, develop fungi, irritations in our delicate skin, etc.
Then during thisprocess, we could end up breaking a bone, or worse, making aseriousspine injury.
But what if we get dirty?
Here you have 2 options, or you leave us deal with the matter, which maytake some time depending on the degree of dirt, or you can do it with wet wipes without alcohol and without smell, or with damp cotton towels, but without soap or shampoo, only Water.
Sick Bunnies, or with some motor issue may be unable to do their hygiene alone, you must to do what the vet says and how it says, but even so the only part that must be washed and only if it is really necessary its our botton, in this case it must be done in a bowl with warm water and a neutral soap, wash only that part, always be aware atbyour bunny's reaction to see if he is not stressed or in panic(see on here how to knowes if your little bunny is panicking or in shock), we should beplaced as if we were standing up, Never on our back or in any other position, clean fast the whole zone and barely ends of washing curl on a towel, dry the fur very well until it becomes completely dry, during this whole process it is important have attention to your bunny body temperature (you can see it in your bunny ears you knows how is it? see in here if you don't knows), don´t go down and your bunny stay sick.
Scent Glands
Although we clean ourselves and dont need bath, the truth is that we need help in a little detail, our Scent Glands.
They are in our intimate areas and many times this area is confused with the testicles, because there is no fur there.
If you see carefully on the side of our genitals there is a smooth area without fur and two little holes, that's where our Scent glands are and they serve to create odor and if they are not clean, we smell a little bit bad.
To cleaning all you need is a cotton swab and a little warm water and nothing else, do not need soap or shampoo nothing of that, just the cotton swab and if you want you can use a very tiny bit of oil, but nothing else!
Then, with the cotton swab, remove the filth that it can be inside, always with a lot Careful because it´s a very sensitive area, imagine if it were you? Stick a cotton swab in such a delicate area, it has to be very careful and gingerly.
