Greens

If Hay occupies the podium of the diet with 80% of this, then vegetables come next.

Greens are not vegetables, greens are all the leafy greens that we can and should eat.

The amount should be the equivalent to the size of our head (however if we are big or giant bunnies this amount has to be bigger, or else keep this amount but give twice a day), and is to be eaten every day and should be at least 3 different greens, being that we are perfectly healthy 2 times a week we can alternate between a vegetable and a fruit, but in a small amount, nothing exaggerated!

There are greens that have a very high level of Oxalic Acid and although we can eat them, we should not eat them too often. It is something also known as Sour Salt (but I think it is more for humans who like boats).

These high levels can cause kidney problems which believe me is very bad!

So to make it easier for you it was decided to divide the greens we can eat into 2 levels, level I as High in Oxalic Acid and level II as Low in Oxalic Acid,  level II greens we can eat as much as we want, level I greens in moderation.

It is important to realise that we should not cut these greens out of our diet, not giving us these greens will also end up causing damage to our health, if having an excess of calcium is bad, having a deficit is also bad.

All this speaking is about  greens, vegetables and fruit is another story (as well as herbs, but we will talk about that later), because vegetables we must eat in moderation and fruit... we must be very careful, especially bananas...

So, in a healthy Rabbit, the daily diet of greens should be 3 different  (as I said above), if you notice I also added the famous Aromatic Herbs, we can also eat them, but you have to be careful, the best is for example, to eat a little bit of each once a week and we can eat them fresh or dried.

The easiest thing is to take this list that I leave here to you and make a weekly menu always changing the greens that can be eaten daily and 2 times a week (for example), give a level I greens.

For example, on Monday we eat Coriander with Celery and Asparagus, on Tuesday arugula with radicchio and spinach, on Wednesday we eat only level II greens and on Thursday we eat a level I greens again and so on.

It is very important to pay attention to our reactions after eating, for example, our poops are the best barometer to understand how our health is, if they are soft, deformed, too dark, too small and so on, it is because something is not right and it is necessary to pay attention, (if you want you can see more about poops here).

If nothing happens, then you can increase the dose, however, during these days we can only eat hay, pellets (if you understand that you want us to eat it), and the greens that we are trying, nothing else. If there is any reaction you must stop immediately and only eat hay and water until the poops are regulated and you are not allowed to offer that green again. If everything goes well, then you know we can eat it without any problems (normally between 2 to 3 days you can see if we are tolerant or not to the new green), Then we have to start with a new greens and repeat the process again, no mixing, only after we try all the greens and see if there is any reaction and even then it is very important to see if the greens mix may or may not cause any reaction, in principle this is not very likely to happen, but it can happen.
